What is EPOC?
EPOC stands for Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption and is often referred to as the AFTER-BURN. EPOC is the increased level of oxygen your body consumes (and therefore calories it burns) in order to recover from working out and bring your metabolism back to its pre-workout/resting state.
Soooo…. What?
The Lagree Fitness method is based on the fact that people don’t need MORE EXERCISE to get fit, they just need MORE INTENSITY. And funny enough, the more INTENSE the workout, the more oxygen your body needs to consume afterward, and therefore the more calories used. (hmmmmm…. I wonder if Sebastien Lagree planned it that way)
So… wait. You’re saying I’m burning fat even AFTER I’m done working out? YESSIR. After a Lagree MT class, you will continue to burn calories much faster for several hours following - some studies found measurable effects existed up to 38 hours after the exercise!
